    BRILLIANT

From the moment I read the blurb, I was intrigued. This is a story reminiscent of Rod Serling’s “Twilight Zone”. A quiet subtle horror, that creeps up slowly and engulfs you.

Steve is a mild mannered 25 year old working along side Betty a matronly woman in a camping supply store. Not much is going on in his life except for volunteering at the local youth center. One day while working he spots a man standing amongst a group of bored teens loitering across the street. The man appears to be staring at the shop, something about this nondescript man causes an uneasy feeling. Steve goes out to question his presence but the man is gone. He questions the teens, but they know nothing.

Steve sees the man more and more, he begins to think of him as the “gray man”. The gray man becomes a constant, always there, never saying anything, just staring. As Steve starts feeling more and more unnerved by this presence a rage begins to build against the gray man. This rage is quickly reaching a boiling point. One night he confronts the gray man and lets loose his rage by killing him. The next morning he wakens panicked, gathering his bloodied clothes he runs out of his flat and comes face to face with the gray man!

To me this is the ultimate horror story, one without the blood and guts. No monsters jumping out at you just that slow feeling of dread of what’s to come. This was a brilliant read I truly enjoyed it. ~ pvlimbaug, Amazon Reviewer
