  1. DAWNE DOMINIQUE

    Engrossing and Just Plain “Grossing”

Finished this book over the weekend and I really enjoyed it. A pleasantly ghoulish read, which has me double checking my locks at night. Thanks for that. For that, Mr. Hains. Do I smell a sequel brewing? Birth Offering had me both engrossed and just plain “grossed” throughout this compelling tale of…well, I can’t even describe it. Juts pick up a copy and find out for yourself…if you dare… ~ Brian Moloney -The Freelance Retort

  2. DAWNE DOMINIQUE

    Stephen King heir

I just finished Birth Offering. I couldn’t put it down. The characters were believable and the plot gripping. If you like Stephen King, this book is for you. Hains’s tension build-up kept me on the edge of my seat. This is a must read for those who love to be terrified. ~ Brent E. Gregory, Amazon review

Love Lois Duncan thrillers? You’ll love this one too.

Fourteen years ago, twins were born to a frightened young woman in South Carolina. One was an apparently normal human baby. The other…wasn’t.

Ryan Perry is devastated when his dad dies suddenly. Still grieving, he reacts badly when his mother moves them both back to her hometown in South Carolina. As Ryan struggles to get back on an even footing, he finds he is being stalked. Who is following him? How does this tie in with a series of gruesome murders? As Ryan meets the school teacher Arthur and determined Agent Lund, his nightmare intensifies.

Anthony Hains gives us a supernatural thriller in the vein of Lois Duncan. There are shocks and twists galore, but the characters and engaging style make this a novel of character as well as a horror story. Readers will care what happens to Ryan. He is very much a boy of his age and times, and his actions and reactions ring true. Agent Lund gets less screen time but he, too, is an intriguing character. … ~ Readalot, Amazon Review

Anthony has struck struck horror gold with this one!

We are pushed into a compelling story that’s gruesome, gripping, and shocking. Right from the get-go we get the sense the story will be unforgettable, and that is an accurate assumption. This extraordinary writer leads the way in horror fiction by telling us a haunting tale that is paced perfectly and is well balanced between scares, chills and intrigue. It unfolds naturally with some brutal and ruthless deaths giving us plenty of breathless suspense. He has taken every ingredient necessary to write the ultimate horror novel! It is almost incomparable, but one thing’s for sure, it’s certainly unique and stands out from the crowd. This takes us much further than into the midst of a zombie apocalypse or a serial killer stalking and slaughtering horny teenagers, it gets to the route of our fears.

We have a young boy named Ryan who is forced to move due to his father’s death. Leaving him living with his mother and grandmother. But it isn’t long until things goes awry. He starts to see things. Little does Ryan or his family know, but there has been a murder recently, and this may just be connected to the things that Ryan has been witnessing. His mother jumps to conclusions and worries her boy is not coping with his father’s death. She instantly begins to fret for his sanity, so takes him to a doctor. But when nothing is wrong with the boy, she is stumped and even more anxious. That is, until her mother, Ryan’s grandmother, reveals the truth about Ryan’s past, something his own mother wasn’t aware of.

It is terrifying, but addictive. We are harassed by dismay and anarchy but powerless to stop reading! With enough plot twists and turns to make you dizzy. We are consumed by one problem then are completely blind-sided by a fresh new issue. Needless to say you won’t get bored for a single page!

It has a movie-like quality with the descriptions and characters taking us on a journey padded with pandemonium. It’s flawlessly frightful.

Anthony holds nothing back. An unrated, explicit and cut-throat account of a terrific story.
Crystal clear descriptions only adds to the many layers of Birth Offering. We have a vivid image in our minds the entire time, setting the scene before the mayhem begins. South Carolina baring witness to the supernatural elements and frightful chaos.

We swim through a pool of apprehension. You’ll be cursing your way through in response to the ghastly demise of characters and unforeseen jumpy bits! It will chill you all the way to your bone’s marrow with fright that would give horror movies competition. If you’re really looking for a thrill, read at night!

Anthony even manages to squeeze empathy into the mix. We empathize with characters and feel their emotional burdens all the while petrified for their well-being. Clearly a great deal of research has been done in themes and issues within the book. I found the visits to the doctors to be very realistic. Sometimes fiction, even when detailing a very real situation such as a trip to the hospital, can get too far-fetched. But the conversing between the doctor’s and Ryan, as well as his mother, was very believable. The questions asked by the medical professionals even took me back to my own personal experiences in hospital and being asked the same kind of questions.

Well written, a literary lunacy of macabre with his undeniably distinctive style. This is definitely not a one-time read, this is one for the permanent collection. You’ll happily go back again and again to experience the madness.

Let’s not forget the epic ending! Chaos reigns as everything spirals out of control brilliantly. Just towards the finale we are shot by an entourage of new information making the breathless suspense almost too much to handle.

Anthony has struck struck horror gold with this one! A superb author through and through, giving us a genuinely entertaining story, all the while scaring the wits from us. In my opinion, a five star read that hits all the spots for a horror enthusiast, as well as dedicated bookworms who love sensational reads. Easily, without a doubt, one of the best horror books out this year! ~ WJT, Amazon Review
